The agreements between Politecnico di Milano and Xi’an Jiaotong University offer students different opportunities to complete part of their academic pathway at the partner university.
The main opportunities are study mobility programmes, which allow students to spend a period at XJTU attending courses and taking exams, and double degree programmes, which involve an integrated academic pathway between the two universities and the award of two degrees.
Study Mobility
Study mobility allows students to spend one semester at Xi’an Jiaotong University, attending courses and taking exams that, if agreed in advance, can be recognised as part of their study programme at Politecnico di Milano.
The activities to be carried out during the mobility period are defined through a Learning Agreement, agreed before departure with the academic coordinators.
Double Degree
Double degree programmes allow students to integrate their academic pathway at Politecnico di Milano with a period of study at Xi’an Jiaotong University and, upon completion of the programme, to obtain a degree from both universities.
The duration, structure and requirements of the programme depend on the specific double degree agreement and on the student’s Degree Programme. In general, a double degree requires a greater commitment than a traditional Master’s Degree programme and usually involves the acquisition of 150 ECTS credits, with a stay of approximately three semesters at the partner university. In return for this additional commitment, the experience enables students to develop not only academic skills, but also linguistic, cultural and personal competences, which can represent an important added value when entering the job market.
