How to apply
To take part in study mobility and double degree programmes, students must apply through the Politecnico di Milano Call for International Mobility, which is published twice a year.
- The first call, generally published in November, includes study mobility and double degree opportunities available for the following academic year.
- The second call, generally published in April, covers any remaining study mobility opportunities and possible new agreements. Mobility periods assigned through the second call may take place during the second semester of the relevant academic year.
Available places, eligibility requirements, selection criteria and deadlines may vary depending on the programme and academic year. It is therefore important to always consult the Call for International Mobility and check the conditions that apply to your Degree Programme.
After Selection
Once selected and after accepting the mobility opportunity, students must complete a number of steps before departure. These include nomination to Xi’an Jiaotong University, the application required by the partner university, travel arrangements and the preparation of the documents required for the stay, as well as completion of the OLA (Online Learning Agreement).

Would you like to go to Xi’an for your thesis?
In addition to the Call for International Mobility, there are other opportunities to spend a period in Xi’an dedicated to thesis work.
- you can apply for Politecnico di Milano “Thesis abroad” call, aimed at Master’s Degree and single-cycle Master’s Degree students who wish to carry out all or part of their thesis work abroad. The call is generally published twice a year, approximately in November and March.
- You can go abroad as a Free Mover, organising your stay independently and following the procedures required by your Degree Programme and Politecnico di Milano.
