The Summer Camp offers Politecnico di Milano students the opportunity to take part in an intensive experience in China, combining academic activities, visits to laboratories and companies, and opportunities to discover the country’s culture and local context.
Created through the collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and Xi’an Jiaotong University, the Summer Camp allows students to experience the Chinese university environment first-hand, meet faculty members, explore laboratories and industrial organisations, and learn more about the study and mobility opportunities offered through the collaboration between the two universities.
Who can participate?
The initiative is aimed at Politecnico di Milano students enrolled in the third year of a Bachelor’s Degree who are interested in learning more about the opportunities available in China and possibly considering continuing their studies through an exchange and/or double degree programme at Xi’an Jiaotong University. In the third edition, held in 2026, the Degree Programmes involved were Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Energy Engineering, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
When does it take place?
The Summer Camp takes place between the end of August and the beginning of September.
How to apply?
Applications open during the second semester of the third year of the Bachelor’s Degree. Application procedures and selection criteria are communicated for each edition. The selection process may take into account the student’s academic record, the number of ECTS credits obtained and their motivation.
What does the programme include?
The programme combines academic activities with cultural experiences, including:
- lectures, seminars and academic activities;
- company visits (Huawei, LONGi, BYD) and visits to Key National Laboratories, offering insights into the country’s industrial and technological context;
- visits to laboratories and research centres;
- cultural activities and visits to sites of historical and artistic interest.
Summer Camp editions
2026 – Xi’an, Hangzhou and Shanghai
For the first time, the third edition expanded beyond Xi’an, involving three cities and offering students a more itinerant experience combining universities, research, industry and culture.
