Polimi Students in China for the 2025 Summer Camp

From August 27 to September 4, 44 students from Politecnico di Milano enthusiastically took part in the second edition of the Summer Camp organized by Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Nine intense and inspiring days gave participants the opportunity to deeply explore the academic, industrial, and cultural landscape of China.

The group, composed of Bachelor’s students in computer, electrical, mechanical, aerospace, and materials engineering, experienced a truly multidisciplinary full-immersion, reflecting the innovative and international approach at the heart of Polimi’s educational mission.

The programme combined company visits—including major players such as LONGi and Geely—with enriching cultural activities, offering students a first-hand look at both cutting-edge technology and China’s thousand-year-old traditions.

Students explored the city of Xi’an, once the imperial capital and starting point of the Silk Road, through meaningful cultural experiences: from the grandeur of the Terracotta Army, to a traditional Chinese opera performance, a calligraphy class, and the chance to wear the elegant Hanfu, traditional Chinese clothing.

One of the highlights of the Summer Camp was the visit to the iHarbour campus, home to the Milan Building, symbol of the strategic partnership between the two universities and official seat of the XJTU‑POLIMI Joint School.

More than just an academic exchange, the Summer Camp offered a valuable intercultural and personal growth journey. Direct interaction with Chinese students, professors, and companies broadened participants’ perspectives, opening up new opportunities for future studies and careers in an international context.

This initiative once again underlines Politecnico di Milano’s strong commitment to internationalisation, a cornerstone in the education of the engineers of tomorrow.
