From October 27 to November 1, the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School hosted a delegation from the School of Industrial and Information Engineering (3I School) of Politecnico di Milano, visiting Xi’an for a week of institutional meetings, academic exchanges, and cultural activities.
The delegation included Sergio Pignari, Rector’s Delegate for the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School; Lorenzo Dozio, Dean of the 3I School; Flavia Grassi, Vice Dean of the 3I School; Marika Arena, Vice Dean of the 3I School; Rossella Saija, Head of the 3I School and the ICAT School; Cristina Chizzoni, Educational Manager of the 3I and ICAT Schools; Gianluca Attolini, Head of the Student Affairs Unit; and Sara Creatini, staff of the Schools of Engineering.
Throughout the week, the delegation had the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the richness and complexity of the academic ecosystem at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Representatives from Politecnico visited several of XJTU’s main schools, including the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Human Settlements and Civil Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Energy and Power Engineering, the School of Computer Science and Technology, and the School of Materials Science and Engineering.
These meetings made it possible to explore organizational models, research activities, mobility initiatives, and development strategies, strengthening the foundations for new collaborations and consolidating ongoing joint activities.
In addition to meeting the various XJTU schools, the delegation also visited the Milan Building, where they met with representatives of the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School to discuss operational matters, development plans, and strategic challenges related to the school’s growth.
The mission was also an opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of the city of Xi’an. Among the extracurricular activities, the delegation visited the world-famous Terracotta Army, an unmissable stop for anyone visiting one of the most historically rich cities in China.
The week of meetings concluded positively, with a shared commitment to continuing and expanding the collaborations between XJTU and Politecnico di Milano, in the spirit of high-quality education and international interdisciplinary research.
